Existing Building
The existing property is a relatively new timber frame house. The house was built as a single storey dwelling but had been outgrown by the clients. The clients wanted to add an additional storey to provide the extra accommodation required.
Design Proposals
The client had already got planning permission to extend the property but wanted to instigate some changes to the plans and to the external elevations. Archid was employed by the client to re-visit the external elevations and to provide interior design services.
Archid identified that it would be difficult to match a new dry dash finish with the existing storey and that the exterior elevations would suffer as a result of this. A solution was adopted in the form of a new inert T & G cladding system which helped differentiate the new storey whilst unifying the design.
Internally Archid worked with the client to re-plan the layout and designed several bespoke elements such as the staircase. The finished design provided the clients with the extra accommodation required and an interior unique to their own specifications.
